Hello lovely people ♥
Do you like to eat lovely food? Laugh? Sing? Dance? Cook? Listen? Chat? Be a friendly face? Then join RAMSI + MASI for this month's Solidarity Dinner!
A wonderful opportunity to eat good food, meet new people and raise much needed funds for those seeking refuge and migrating in Ireland and abroad. Families and children are welcome.
*Suggested donation is €5 per plate (if you have less that’s fine, if you can give more – great!)* We REALLY appreciate donations as they help us to cover the costs of this volunteer run event - we need funds to cover food costs and transport for all those coming from Direct Provision centres around the country.
*Wanna show off your cooking skills? ;) We'd also be grateful it if some people brought along a VEGETARIAN/VEGAN dish to share, please let us know so we can coordinate :) As the dinners grow we need more and more food - Send us a message!
Let's come together to share a meal, have a chat and get to know each other - let's challenge the separation and isolation the system of Direct Provision creates by coming together as people going through DP, people who've migrated to Ireland and been on the move and local people in a spirit of friendship, fun and solidarity. There'll be speakers, musicians, face-painting, yummy food and new friends to be made ♥
Money raised at the dinner will go towards supporting the work of MASI - the Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland, and towards funding transport for people coming to the dinners from direct provision centres outside of Dublin.
MASI - is an independent platform for asylum seekers to join together in unity and purpose. The collective seeks justice, freedom and dignity for all asylum seekers. They campain and struggle for the end of the system of direct provision, the right to work and education, and oppose deportations.
More info at http://www.masi.ie/
Speakers from MASI will update us on their work and actions, and about whats been going on with the struggle to End Direct Provision.
This is vital work, and to be able to continue to engage effectively with these issues we need to support each other. We hope LOADS of you lovely beautiful people can make it! We'll share food and stories, learn about DP (a system which has been described as 'state sanctioned child poverty and exclusion', 'open prisons', and a 'system of privatised institutional abuse') and hear from those seeking asylum about the struggle they are leading to challenge the system.
